New applications, new source code

SPEC CPU2000 has 26 component benchmarks. Of these, 19 have never before been included in a SPEC CPU suite. The new applications include C, C++, Fortran-77, and Fortran-90 programs, with a total of over 400,000 lines of code in more than 1100 source modules. The other 7 benchmarks have been updated from CPU95, including larger workloads, more complex workloads, and updated source code.

Base and peak optimizations

As with SPEC CPU95, the new suite has concepts of "base" and "peak" measurements. Base represents a more conservative set of optimizations, and peak allows for more aggressive optimizations. Most of the initial submissions used base optimizations only.

SPECint2000 results

The integer suite of SPEC CPU2000 includes applications for data compression, computer-aided design, combinatorial optimization, chess, group theory, perl, gcc, and an object oriented-database. Descriptions of each of the integer applications are available.

SPECfp2000 results

The floating point suite of SPEC CPU2000 includes applications from physics, chemistry, meteorology, fluid dynamics, image recognition, earthquake modeling, number theory, crash simulation, and 3-D graphics. Descriptions of each of the floating point applications are available.
