BladeSystem Release Sets for Integrity BL860c i2, BL870c i2, and BL890c i2 servers are supported firmware combinations for Integrity server blades, Integrity iLO, BladeSystem OA, and BladeSystem Virtual Connect. Integrity Blade system firmware update is now supported by the HP firmware installation tool HPSUM. Other components, and other Integrity servers, are updated via legacy tools for installation. To find the appropriate installation tools for all Integrity Servers see HP Integrity and HP 9000 Servers – HP Firmware Update Options.
Integrity blade firmware packages are not currently included in the Smart Update Firmware DVD ISO. Use the links below to download firmware, or visit HP Support and Drivers.

Maintaining HP BladeSystem c-Class firmware using Integrity Release Sets

HP is making it easier to acquire, maintain, and get support for the full range of firmware components. HP has established HP BladeSystem Release Sets that are made available on a regular basis. Firmware Release Sets are composed of individual HP BladeSystem firmware components that have been tested and verified together in an integrated BladeSystem solution environment. BladeSystem Release Sets are available today for Integrity BL860c i2, BL870c i2, and BL890c i2 blades. These release sets define a supported combination with these components:
  • » Onboard Administrator (OA)
  • » Virtual Connect (VC)
  • » Integrity Server System, Integrity Integrated Lights-Out (iLO), and Integrity IO
  • » HP BladeSystem interconnect modules

Adopting a standard of regularly scheduled Firmware Release Sets simplifies the firmware support model. Customers with BladeSystem enclosures containing only Integrity blades can follow a maintenance cycle set by the Integrity Firmware Release Sets. HP call center support is offered for the latest Release Set or one of two previous Release Sets installed. Firmware Release Sets will be easy to identify as they are based on the date of release. For example, a January 2010 Firmware Release Set would be identified as 2010.01.

Note: The table below lists the current release sets and their valid point releases. When a release set contains more than one valid interim point releases, a "customized" solution can be created using any of the point releases contained within a single release set.

Note: HPSUM bundles are run from networked Windows or Linux client workstations and are used to update Integrity platforms running all supported Integrity operating systems including HP-UX. For example, to update a BL860c i2 server running HP-UX 11iv3 from a Linux networked workstation, choose the HPSUM Linux bundle. For more information on HP SUM, please see the User Guide:

Additional Information

Integrity Server firmware packages are available as downloads from HP Support - they are not included on the HP Smart Update Firmware DVD ISO. Each server firmware package includes firmware, firmware update tools, and release notes that include installation instructions. Where firmware is marked as an HPSUM bundle, the download package includes the HP firmware update tool HPSUM. Integrity i2 generation c-class blades support the HPSUM Online Update mode of firmware updates. Older Integrity blades and Integrity I/O firmware is maintained through a variety of methods including Integrity iLO, EFI firmware update tools and OS automated tools. For more information on these tools and how to use them with Integrity and HP9000 platforms, please see these resources:

HP Integrity Superdome 2 systems manage firmware updates through the Superdome 2 Onboard Administrator. Please refer to the Superdome 2 Onboard Administrator User Guide to learn more about this process.
