| Overview |
| For IS Managers and professionals that are
looking for higher capacity, higher performance, and reliable tape backup, HP offers the
DLT 20/40 GB tape drive. DLT technology is the de facto tape backup standard in the
enterprise environment today, with the DLT 20/40 GB tape drive offering a reliable data
protection solution for servers with less than 40-GB of storage. Available in both
internal and external tabletop form factors, with transfer rates up to 10.8 GB/hour, this
drive brings performance and manageability to the backup process. The DLT 20/40 drive
requires the DLT IV data cartridge to achieve the 20-GB native capacity and 40-GB capacity
with 2:1 data compression. Yet, the DLT 20/40 tape drive is perfect for the 15/30 GB DLT
customer to upgrade to because of the inherent read/write compatibility to the DLT IIIxt
data cartridge used with the DLT 15/30 tape drive. |

Supported in HP StorageWorks 3U and 5U
Rackmount Kits, allowing customer to install up to 2 internal DLT 20/40 GB drives in a 3U
rackmount space or up to 4 internal DLT 20/40 GB drives in a 5U rackmount space,
respectively. Standard configuration for 3U Rackmount Kit provides two internal SCSI buses
(channels) supporting one DLT drive per bus. Standard configuration for 5U Rackmount Kit
provides two internal SCSI buses (channels) supporting up to 2 DLT drives per bus.
Optional cable kit permits user to extend from two to four internal SCSI buses in 5U
Rackmount Kit, increasing the performance (data transfer rate) by allowing the customer to
stream data to all four drives simultaneously. Please refer to "Rackmount Tape Drive
Kits" QuickSpec for further information.
NOTE: Customers must use internal tape
devices qualified for ProLiant and AlphaServer platforms only. For internal tape devices
qualified on HP NetServer and other HP platforms, please refer to the HP website for
information on the HP StorageWorks Tape Array 5300 and 5500. |
