| Introduction |
| The StorageWorks
Enclosure Model 2200 is the new packaging for the HSG80 RAID controller. The Model
2200 provides the connection between the HSG80 and disks installed in StorageWorks
Model 4200 drive enclosures. The Model 2200 supports one or two HSG80s. Two cooperating controllers provide redundancy for high availability. Six UltraSCSI channel connections on the Model 2200 allow for connection for six single bus drive shelves or 3 dual bus drive shelves. |

StorageWorks Enclosure Model 2200 is the new packaging for the HSG80 RAID controller.

| Customized Modular Storage Solutions | The modular packaging components are now available for building customized storage solutions. See the White Paper "Putting it All Together: Configuring Modular Solutions" for full details. Note that the components are now only available for "loose piece" orders where the solutions are assembled on site. Pre-configured storage solutions are currently being qualified. Availability of full CTO configurations will also be announced at that time. | ||

Model 2200 supports modular storage system configurations containing: StorageWorks

| StorageWorks Enclosure Model 4200 family | The Enclosure Model 2200 supports the Enclosure Model 4200 family of drive shelves. See the "StorageWorks Enclosure Model 4200 Family" QuickSpec for detailed information on the 4214R and 4254 drive shelf options. | ||

| HSG80 | The HSG80 is the Fibre to SCSI RAID controller. It supports 2 Fibre ports to the SAN and 6 SCSI channels to the disk drives. |

| HSG80 Fibre Channel Switch and Hub Support | Support
for 8 and 16 port Fibre Channel switches allows the full benefits of a storage
area network (SAN), providing exceptional connectivity while increasing the effective
bandwidth of the network. Supported SAN features include zoning for communication
isolation, switch to switch segments up to 10KM, and FC-AL connections into Brocade
QuickLoop port handling. Support for the 7 and 12 port Fibre Channel hubs offers low cost connectivity to a SAN. |

| Model 2200 Fault Tolerance | Redundant power supplies, fans, controllers, cache battery backup, hot global spare drives and a multi-level RAID architecture (0, 1, 3/5, 1+0) ensure fault tolerance to provide the highest level of data availability and data integrity. |

| Manageability | StorageWorks Command Console (SWCC) provides a graphical user interface (GUI) to setup/configure, monitor, and troubleshoot storage subsystems. |
