Introduction
The Compaq RAID LC2 Controller is a single channel PCI RAID controller targeted for entry-level and workgroup servers that need hardware RAID. Qualified exclusively on the ProLiant™ ML310, ProLiant ML330*, ProLiant ML330 G2, ProLiant ML350*, ProLiant ML350 G2, ProLiant ML350 G3, ProLiant DL320, and the ProLiant DL320 G2 servers, the RAID LC2 Controller offers entry-level RAID functionality. With support for Wide Ultra2 SCSI , Wide Ultra 3, and Ultra 320 internal disk drives (Ultra3 and Ultra 320 attached drives will transfer data at a maximum of 80 MB/s), the RAID LC2 Controller provides data compatibility and an upgrade path to all HP Smart Array controllers.

Data Compatibility

 Data compatibility with all models of HP Smart Array controllers means that as storage needs grow, customers can upgrade to the Compaq Smart Array Family of products to get to higher performance, manageability, capacity and availability. Successive generations of Compaq array controllers are compatible with the data format of previous controllers, providing investment protection for your Compaq storage solution.

Affordable

 The RAID LC2 Controller is designed and integrated as an affordable storage solution exclusively for entry-level and workgroup servers such as the ProLiant ML310, ProLiant ML330*, ProLiant ML330 G2, ProLiant ML350*, ProLiant ML350 G2, ProLiant ML350 G3, ProLiant DL320 and the ProLiant DL320 G2.
*NOTE: Discontinued server.

Capacity

 Single internal SCSI channel supports up to 880.8 GB of storage using six 146.8 GB internal disk drives.

Fault Tolerance

 Keeps data available and server running while a failed drive is being replaced; several fault tolerance configurations are supported including:
 
  • Distributed Data Guarding (RAID 5): This allocates parity data across multiple drives and allows simultaneous write operations. It is recommended for up to 14 Hard drives.
  • Drive Mirroring (RAID 1, 1+0): It allocates half of the drive array to data and the other half to mirrored data, providing two copies of every file. It is a fast performance RAID.

Fault Prevention

 HP Pre-Failure Warranty means that Insight Manager not only reports when a drive is going to fail, but allows replacement of failing drives prior to actual drive failure. For complete details, consult the HP Support Center or refer to your ProLiant Server documentation.
Availability The RAID LC2 Controller provides increased server uptime using the Auto Rebuild feature which enables a failed disk drive to be rebuilt, utilizing the Online Spare. The Online Spare can be assigned via Option ROM Configuration for Arrays (ORCA) utility.

  • Coverage - Extend hours of coverage from 5 days x 9 hours to 7 days x 24 hours
