| What is Storage Services Bundling? |
The Storage Services Bundling takes the
existing storage products along with the existing services and creates bundles of storage
hardware/software and
appropriate services. The increased level of support provides for a higher level of
storage system availability for the customer. |

| Overview |
| Hot Plug Tape offers customers a high
availability data protection backup device within 3 different capacities. Compaq is first
to market Hot Plug Tape for Compaq Servers and StorageWorks™ External Storage
Enclosures by Compaq. Hot Plug Tape is also the first to be supported on Compaq’s
Smart Array controllers including the newest the 5300 Series. Hot Plug Tape Customer
benefits include:
- High availability data protection – increases server up-time
- Easy to upgrade to higher capacity tape drives
- Backward compatibility within technologies for full investment protection
- Easy to service and install
- Reduces spare inventory with Compaq’s 24 hour exchange

your server. Simply pull out your defective device and plug in your new one. |

| Compaq makes managing your tape device simple
with the Compaq Insight Manager and Tape Storage Management Console. These two tools help
customers diagnose problems and easily upgrade firmware. |

| Because hot plug tape is offered in three
different devices, the customer can actually chose which device will provide the right
performance for their environment. |

| Scalability |
| Customers have the opportunity to build the
solution that will meet their needs. All you have to do is decide how much data needs to
be backed up and use the guide below to determine what hardware is needed. |

| Performance |
| If you choose the 20/40-GB DAT hot plug tape,
you can achieve 8.6 GB/hr backup times. With the AIT 35GB hot plug your backup speed
increases to 14.4 GB/hr and with AIT 50GB hot plug your backup times increase further to
21.6 GB/hr. |

| Software Supported |
| All three hot plug tape drives are compatible
with VERITAS Backup Exec, Computer Associates ARCserve and Dantz Retrospect software
programs. |

| Scalability |
| With hot plug tape you can scale from 1 tape
device up to 6 inside of Compaq’s External Storage Enclosures. You can also use these
hot plug tape devices to upgrade Compaq’s TA1000 AIT Tape Array 5-drive
configuration. |
