Standard Features for External MultiBay
Compatibility The External MultiBay will work on any USB enabled system. For best performance, the External MultiBay should be used with systems that support USB 2.0. On most systems, both Desktop and Notebooks, the External MultiBay should be powered with the AC Adapter provided in the option kit. Some HP systems support a specific powered-USB connection that provides self-powering of the External MultiBay.

Hot Docking/
Undocking support
Hot docking/undocking is supported under Windows XP Professional. When being used with other operating systems, the hardware eject icon in the Windows system tray should be used to avoid potential loss of data or damage to the device.

Battery ChargingThe MultiBay battery is not supported in the External MultiBay.

Robust SecurityThe External MultiBay has a security slot to help protect the device. The slot can be used with a security cable lock to secure the External MultiBay to a stationary object. When the security lock is in place, the MultiBay drive installed in the External MultiBay is also secured.

Boot SupportBooting from the External MultiBay is supported at USB 1.1 speeds on systems that support booting from USB devices.

Transfer RatesOn systems that do not support USB 2.0, whether through hardware or software, optimal transfer rates may not be attained. This may result in some degradation of quality in DVD playback and CD creation.

Service and SupportOne-year limited warranty
NOTE: Certain restrictions and exclusions apply. Consult the HP Customer Support Center for details.
