Overview

The HP StorageWorks DLT1 1280 superloader provides customers with the ultimate solution for automated entry-level data protection. Built around the new DLT1 tape drive, the 1/16 tape superloader provides customers with a native data protection storage capacity of 640GB in only 2U of rackmount space. The new tape superloader also incorporates many Enterprise level features in a solution that can be easily integrated into a data protection solution for small to mid-size servers and applications.

With both 8-cartridge magazines completely loaded, access to open drive slot through Import/Export Mail Slot allows for 16+1 configuration.
   
Data Cartridge Loading High-speed, multi-cartridge-loading capabilities provided through manual insertion into removable 8-cartridge magazines.
Single cartridge insertion provided through automated Import/Export Mail Slot located on front panel.
   
Performance Provides native data transfer rate up to 3MB/s, or 6MB/s with 2:1 compression.
   
Modular Design The DLT1 1280 superloader was designed with few, customer-replaceable, modular components, making the 11/16 easy to maintain and manage.
Both 8-cartridge magazines are interchangeable and can be easily removed for data cartridge insertion and maintenance.
The drive carriage assembly (DCA) houses both the DLT1 tape drive and power supply and can be easily removed by the customer for maintenance and future drive upgrade capabilities
Replacement of either the cartridge magazines and/or the DCA can be completed without having to ship the entire superloader platform.
   
Remote Management Features The DLT1 1280 superloader manager provides remote, network-based system management capabilities through and integrated 10baseT Ethernet controller located on the back of the device. Supported management features include:
  • Status information on the drive and system
  • System configuration operations and reporting
  • System error and status logs
  • Library and drive firmware upload capabilities
  • Foreign Language support through firmware upgrades
  • Diagnostic tests and information
  • Cartridge movement for maintenance/management purposes
  • Cleaning cartridge support
  • Security and access control
  • SNMP support for IP communications

Browser-based access to these features can be achieved through a LAN or internet connection.

 
Manageability Device Management provided through HP’s Tape Storage Management Console (TSMC) and the integrated remote management features.
User’s can also access the system’s management features through the LCD Interface located on the front panel.

The DLT1 1280 superloader ships standard with the native device drivers CD included in the units documentation kit. Further software support, including ISV device drivers and HP’s Data Protection Tools, can be downloaded through the HP.com Website at no additional charge. A complete set of tools for managing the DLT1 1280 superloader can also be obtained by purchasing the Data Protection Suite for Tape Utilities, which provides quarterly updates for refreshed tools.
