HP DDS
tape drives are backward read-write compatible with previous DDS
generations, thus:
- DAT 72 also reads and writes
DDS-3 and DDS-4
(and reads DDS-2)
- DAT 40 also reads and writes DDS-3 and DDS-2 (and reads
DDS-1 90m tapes)*
- DAT 24 also reads and writes DDS-1 and DDS-2
NOTE: The DAT 40 hot-plug drive is an exception. This
drive is read-write compatible with DDS-3 and read compatible
with DDS-2.
