• Release of VMware vCenter Site Recovery Manager (SRM) 5 and VMware vShield 5
  • Enhancements to VMware SRM 5 include introduction of vSphere replication which will manage replication at the virtual machine level through VMware vCenter Server, reducing the complexity involved in managing storage-based replication. VMware SRM 5 also includes automatic failback capability that can automatically reverse replication and execute recovery plans in the opposite direction so that customers will be able to automatically "failback" to the original production site. VMware SRM 5 introduces planned migration which executes a graceful shutdown of protected VMs at the original site, perform a data sync to force complete replication of powered-off VMs to the failover site and then execute a recovery plan leveraging application-consistent VMs, , enabling zero data loss and application-consistent migration of VMs to another site
  • Enhancements to vShield 5 include introduction of vShield Application with Data Security which enables enterprises to discover and classify sensitive data residing within virtual machines. vShield 5 is also optimized to support Intrusion Prevention Systems such as HP TippingPoint vController which is the most comprehensive VMware certified intrusion prevention system offering consistency, control and inspection of security policies for virtualized infrastructures
