Overview
|
Cisco MDS 9134 Fabric Switch C-Series Switch | ||
| The Cisco MDS 9134 offers advanced storage networking capabilities with its "pay as you grow" port activation features starting at 24 ports. This switch is designed for midrange to large enterprise customers, provides line-rate 4-Gbps and 10-Gbps ports based on a "switch-on-a-chip" application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC) designed to support high performance, high density, and enterprise-class availability. The switch is intended to offer value by providing flexibility, high availability, security, and ease of use at an affordable price in a compact one rack-unit (1RU) form factor or 2 rack unit (2RU) for 48 and 64 port stacked solution offerings. With the flexibility to expand from 24 to 32 ports in 8-port increments, and optionally, activate two 10-Gbps ports, the Cisco MDS 9134 fabric switch is designed to offer the density required for a top-of-rack switch in the datacenter and provides edge connectivity in enterprise SANs. The Cisco MDS 9134 is designed to offer non-blocking architecture, with all 32 4-Gbps ports and the 2 10-Gbps ports operating at full line rates concurrently. With the MDS 9134 there are no hidden license and software support charges for ISL trunking, extended distance support, security, real-time performance and event monitoring and virtual SANs. Designed for environments where downtime is not an option, the hot-pluggable design supports non-disruptive upgrades, VSANs for fault isolation, with redundant power supplies and PortChannels for ISL resiliency. This switch meets the low cost, high performance, ease of management and security requirements of small to medium-scale storage environments. Plus the Cisco MDS 9134 is fully compatible with the HP C-series, Cisco MDS 9500 Directors, MDS 9200 semi-modular Fabric Switches and other MDS 9100 Fabric Switches for transparent, end-to-end service delivery in very large data-center core-edge deployments providing investment protection and a solution you won't outgrow. | ||

Configuration Information
| The MDS 9134 Fabric Switch comes with 32 autosensing Fibre Channel ports which operate at 1, 2, or 4Gb plus 2 - 10Gb Fibre Channel ports for a total of 34 fixed ports. When configured with 24 or 32 active 4Gb ports, an 8-port software activation license is available for "pay as you grow" expansion in 8-port increments up to the 32, 4Gb port maximum of the switch. The two 10Gb ports are licensed separately and the 10Gb LTU for these ports can be purchased when needed, this license is included with the 48 and 64 port solution kits. The port slots are empty and optical transceivers are required to utilize the ports with the exception of the two 10Gb transceivers that are included in the 48 and 64 port solution kits. Short, Medium and Long Range 4Gb optical transceiver options (SFPs) as well as CWDM, DWDM and 10Gb transceivers for distances up to 40km are available and must be ordered separately. The switch comes equipped with dual hot swappable power supplies for higher availability and redundancy. | ||
