Citrix XenServer is a high performance virtualization solution designed for efficient support of Windows and Linux virtual machines.  HP has tightly integrated Citrix XenServer into ProLiant platforms to enable fast and straightforward installation, configuration, and virtual machine management.  This revolutionary way of distributing virtualization technology combines seamless integration and active ProLiant management to ensure confident virtual deployments.

• How HP integrated Citrix XenServer works.  Purchase your preferred integrated Citrix XenServer option kit from HP.  You will receive a USB key with the HP XenServer image pre-installed on the key.  Insert the key into the internal USB port of your server (see hood label for location of internal USB port on your ProLiant server).  During POST, press F9 to access the ROM-based Setup Utility (RBSU) to change the boot order to boot from the USB key.  Boot the server as usual and XenServer is automatically loaded into memory.  The ProLiant Virtual Console wizard guides you through host and virtual machine configuration.
  
• Choose from two HP integrated Citrix XenServer options.
  
  • HP Select Edition offers a low cost, all-in-one solution with integrated Citrix XenServer and HP ProLiant Virtual Console for local single server management.  Allows creation of an unlimited number of virtual machines per server, with up to 32GB memory per virtual machine.
    
  • HP Enterprise Edition enables resource pooling and live migration.  Includes ProLiant Virtual Console for single server management and XenCenter for virtual machine management across multiple servers.

• HP ProLiant Virtual Console comes standard with all HP integrated Citrix XenServer options.  HP ProLiant Virtual Console removes complexity from virtualization installations by offering single server virtual machine management.   A first time wizard-based setup guides you through initial installation and configuration, and a straight forward GUI interface provides ongoing virtual machine monitoring and management.  A multi-screen view of virtual machine consoles installed on the server eases the management process by allowing you to view multiple virtual machine consoles at once.  HP ProLiant Virtual Console comes standard with all HP integrated Citrix XenServer options.
• HP iLO Advanced Pack (optional).   The addition of HP iLO2 Advanced Pack to integrated Citrix XenServer greatly enhances the management of virtual machines on ProLiant servers by providing graphical remote access to HP ProLiant Virtual Console.  HP iLO2 Advanced Pack provides virtual KVM through HP iLO2 Remote Graphics Console, plus virtual media capabilities, allowing administration of HP PVC regardless of location, as well as other features such as shared remote console, console record and replay capabilities, and directory services integration.
• Support & service.  HP bundles 1-year 9x5 unlimited support and subscription services with integrated Citrix XenServer HP Enterprise Edition.  Support and subscription services are optional with integrated Citrix XenServer HP Select Edition.

• HP ProLiant Virtual Console.  HP PVC comes standard with all HP integrated Citrix XenServer options, and provides an all-in-one management environment for virtual machine creation, deployment, and management on individual ProLiant servers.
• HP iLO Advanced Pack (optional).   The addition of HP iLO2 Advanced Pack to integrated Citrix XenServer allows graphical remote access to HP ProLiant Virtual Console.  HP iLO2 Advanced Pack provides virtual KVM through HP iLO2 Remote Graphics Console, plus virtual media capabilities, allowing administration of HP PVC regardless of location.
• Active hardware management.  HP Systems Insight Manager agents are pre-installed along with integrated Citrix XenServer on the USB key to provide active hardware management using HP Systems Insight Manager (SIM). These agents pro-actively surface hardware monitoring data to provide the most up to date server state information possible.
• Consolidated lifecycle management.  Future updates to HP integrated Citrix XenServer can be made using the same tool used to update ProLiant system firmware.  Consolidating integrated Citrix XenServer and ProLiant firmware updates simplifies time consuming lifecycle management.  The USB key is partitioned with redundant images, enabling a robust upgrade and recovery process.

• Server support.  HP supports a broad range of servers for integrated Citrix XenServer products, allowing customers to continue to use existing server standards in a virtualized environment.
