Citrix XenServer is a high performance virtualization solution designed for efficient support of Windows and Linux virtual machines. HP integrated Citrix XenServer on ProLiant platforms enables installation, configuration, and virtual machine management. This revolutionary way of distributing virtualization technology combines seamless integration and active ProLiant management to ensure confident virtual deployments, greater resource utilization, increased system flexibility, better investment protection, improved management productivity, enhanced power management and reduced risks. HP integrated Citrix XenServer is the simplest and most efficient way to virtualize servers.

HP customers can easily download the HP Integrated Citrix XenServer Install ISO. Using the installation ISO you can now install the integrated version of Citrix XenServer to a server's hard drive, a USB key or SD card. This includes the XenServer hypervisor, HP's SNMP agents and HP's ProLiant Virtual Console (PVC) utility - 90 days trial license for PVC.

One of the most unique aspects of the HP integrated XenServer product is the HP developed ProLiant Virtual Console. The HP ProLiant Virtual Console allows simplified management of the virtualization server with the ability to create and manage virtual machines including resource adjustments, performance management and configuration of the virtualization server itself. The HP ProLiant Virtual Console is designed for new users of virtualization technology. HP PVC provides a simple to use GUI interface to setup and manage virtual machines on individual servers, without the need for a separate management server or even a network. PVC comes with HP Select Edition (90 day PVC trial license), HP integrated Citrix XenServer Enterprise + PVC, and Citrix XenServer Platinum Edition options, enabling local virtual machine creation and management using the local console of the server.

HP integrated XenServer includes the HP Systems Insight Manager Agent stack to allow for active management of the HP ProLiant Server.

The virtual machine creation and management experience is greatly enhanced with the HP iLO2 Advanced Pack (sold separately), which provides a number of powerful features, including graphical remote consoles and virtual media capabilities.

Support for HP Generation ProLiant G6 servers:

• HP integrated Citrix XenServer Platinum Edition: Platinum Edition adds Citrix Provisioning Server license to Citrix XenServer. Common workloads can be created, maintained, and stored once but run in multiple virtual machines
• The HP Integrated Citrix XenServer Install ISO. Using the installation ISO you can now install the integrated version of Citrix XenServer to a server's hard drive, a USB key or SD card.

• HP ProLiant Virtual Console. HP ProLiant Virtual Console (PVC) is an HP-developed tool that allows users to set up and manage a virtualized server. The intuitive user interface starts on the local console from the time the server initially boots up. Users can create virtual machines, install software for those virtual machines, and manage VMs and resources from the console. While the virtual machines are running, the user can also interact with each virtual machine by using a hot-key to select it, similar to a KVM switch; it even allows users to interact with up to 4 or 9 VMs on the screen at the same time. Since PVC uses the standard local console, the entire experience can also be run remotely using the virtual console feature of Integrated Lights-Out Advanced or through a standard external KVM switch. PVC complements the single-server or multi-server remote management capabilities that virtualization vendors supply by also offering a console that does not require a separate networked client. PVC is included by default with the HP VDI with XenDesktop offerings.
• HP iLO Advanced Pack (optional). The addition of HP iLO2 Advanced Pack to integrated Citrix XenServer allows graphical remote access to HP ProLiant Virtual Console. HP iLO2 Advanced Pack provides virtual KVM through HP iLO2 Remote Graphics Console, plus virtual media capabilities, allowing administration of HP PVC regardless of location.
• Active hardware management. HP Systems Insight Manager agents are installed along with integrated Citrix XenServer to provide active hardware management using HP Systems Insight Manager (SIM). These agents pro-actively surface hardware monitoring data to provide the most up to date server state information possible.
• Consolidated lifecycle management. Future updates to HP integrated Citrix XenServer can be made using the same tool used to update ProLiant system firmware. Consolidating integrated Citrix XenServer and ProLiant firmware updates simplifies time consuming lifecycle management.

• Server support.  HP supports a broad range of servers for integrated Citrix XenServer products, allowing customers to continue to use existing server standards in a virtualized environment.
