HP Insight Control Environment for Linux provides all necessary activation keys for licensing Deployment, Monitoring, Insight Power Manager, and iLO Select Pack.

Easy-to-Use Installer

HP Insight Control Environment for Linux provides a simple, easy-to-use installer which installs HP Systems Insight Manager (HP SIM) and all necessary plug-ins to support operating system deployment and advanced management and monitoring. The installer will identify any missing dependencies. If none are found, it will gather configuration data and subsequently install all of the necessary components in one easy step.

Unified Infrastructure Management

HP Insight Control Environment for Linux (HP ICE-Linux), based on HP Systems Insight Manager and ProLiant Essentials software, provides a unified, secure and extensible platform to centrally manage servers, storage and other infrastructure devices in a Linux multi-server environment.
HP SIM provides core management services that include device discovery and identification, event views, health monitoring, inventory data collection, and reporting. HP SIM is built on industry standards and is extensible with value-added ProLiant Essentials and Storage Essentials as well as with custom applications and scripts to meet individual management needs.

HP ICE-Linux provides flexibility to monitor, manage, and deploy software to various types of managed systems:

Systems that are new (i.e. ‘bare metal’)– the systems do not have an operating system installed and are not known to HP SIM,
Systems that have a Linux operating system installed but are not known to HP SIM, and
Systems that have a supported Linux operating system installed and are known to HP SIM.

Lights-Out Remote Management

HP Insight Control Environment for Linux (HP ICE-Linux) uses iLO Select Pack to provide comprehensive, cost-effective Lights-Out management upgrades for ProLiant servers that are managed using the remote consoles available in iLO 2 Standard and iLO 2 Standard Blade Edition. iLO Select Pack compliments standard iLO 2 features by activating additional features you need to enable full remote control of your ProLiant servers in routine and emergency situations. iLO Select Pack includes remote console collaboration and replay of BIOS and POST (pre-OS) screens, enterprise security, virtual media and virtual folders, and power management functionality.

Precise Power Measurement and Utilization

HP Insight Control Environment for Linux (HP ICE-Linux) delivers precise power and thermal measurement and reporting for HP ProLiant Blade Systems and Rack servers, as well as HP BladeSystem infrastructure components. New power capping functionality complements existing power regulation technology by allowing customers to cap power usage at a particular wattage or at a percentage of a server's maximum power rating. This ensures that data centre IT staff and facilities managers have the information they need to optimize server density within existing power and cooling constraints and to ensure efficient use of power resources.

The Insight Power Manager function is supported on a select group of ProLiant servers that ship with the iLO2 management processor. Advanced Monitoring

HP Insight Control Environment for Linux (HP ICE-Linux) integrates open source technologies (e.g. Nagios) for an advanced set of health and performance monitoring on HP ProLiant servers. Extensive monitoring capabilities provide status, events, histories, notifications, alerts, and reporting. Information can be viewed using customizable graphical displays; or alternatively, the same monitoring info can be accessed via command line interface. These advanced monitoring capabilities, which are integrated to proactively notify through HP Systems Insight Manager, provide the understanding which is needed to take the guesswork out of environment control.

Deployment and Provisioning

HP Insight Control Environment for Linux (HP ICE-Linux) delivers a versatile deployment solution for HP ProLiant servers to improve productivity of Linux system administrators. Bare-metal system discovery, coupled with system image capture, image or script-based deployment and installation, and installation of HP ProLiant Support Pack (PSP) drivers – all using a productive one-to-many model – provides better utilization and control of scarce resources.

Upgrades	Users of HP Insight Control Linux Edition v1.6 with a current HP support contract can upgrade to HP ICE-Linux v2.0 at no additional charge.

Warranty	HP will replace defective delivery media for a period of 90 days from the date of purchase. This warranty applies to all Insight Control Management, HP Systems Insight Manager, and ProLiant Essentials products.

Software Support

HP offers a number of software support services, many of which are provided to our customers at no additional charge.

Software Technical Support and Update Service - Insight Control Environment for Linux and select ProLiant Essentials software products include one year of 24 x 7 HP Software Technical Support and Update Service. This service provides access to HP technical resources for assistance in resolving software implementation or operations problems. The service also provides access to software updates and reference manuals either in electronic form or on physical media as they are made available from HP. (Customers who purchase an electronic license to use are eligible for electronic updates only.) With this service, Insight Control and ProLiant Essentials customers will benefit from expedited problem resolution as well as proactive notification and delivery of software updates. Registration for Software Technical Support and Update Service:
There are two methods for registering:

If you received a license entitlement certificate, automated registration for this service will take place upon online redemption of the license certificate/key.
If the license information you received for your product instructs you to register for Software Technical Support and Update Service, follow the instructions so that you will be eligible for telephone support and product updates.

How to Use Your Software Technical Support and Update Service:

Once registered, you will receive a service contract in the mail containing the Customer Service phone number and your Service Agreement Identifier (SAID). You will need your SAID when calling for technical support. Using your SAID, you can also go to the Software Update Manager (SUM) web page to view your contract online and elect electronic delivery for product updates.

Usage Scenario 1	A customer in a Linux-centric organization uses a variety of open source tools and utilities to manage an increasingly complex and growing industry-standard server environment. Usage Scenario 2

A customer in a Linux environment needs to deploy flexible, moderate-sized clusters to enhance the output of teams, workgroups, and/or departments. This customer is looking for a Linux solution that provides good performance for managing and monitoring clusters of servers of moderate size (up to 60 nodes typical), and provides distributed Linux management of server groups with cloning of user-created images and for the remote deployment of operating systems and images
