HP System Copy for SAP software to automate the process of creating the copy from production, this includes:

1. Creating the replication pair on the array (using XP or EVA Business Copy)
2. Suspending the replication group, with interaction with database,
3. Present the file system and devices to a temporary target system
4. Rename and recover the database and SAP instance.

System Copy Software also automates the renaming and reconfiguration of the new SAP instance, as well as presents the copy to a target system.

HP System Copy Software integrates with HP StorageWorks Business Copy to create a full copy of your SAP instance without experiencing downtime to that environment. System Copy Software also integrates with both XP and EVA Snapshot functionality to non-disruptively create point-in-time copies to reduce the amount of data being copied.

The Java-based GUI application integrates with HP StorageWorks HP Business Copy Software
(Business Copy) to configure and manage the copy processes for SAP instances in the landscape.

A full or space-efficient system copy of the SAP production database can be performed without any production downtime. Integrates with HP Business Copy software to eliminate downtime.

HP System Copy presents the copy of the production system to the TDMS server for data extraction while the production system remains fully operational.

HP System Copy modifies the SAP instance to prevent interaction with any other system, and then uses the SAP installation program (SAPinst) to install and configure the new SAP instance on the target server.

The System Copy Solution Components

• Central management server (CMS): A Windows-based system running the System Copy software. The CMS must have a Fibre Channel connection with all HP disk arrays that are used in the configuration, and manages the replication pairs using a standard command device. The management server executes commands on both the source and target system using secure remote shell commands over an IP network.
• Source system: A physical server that is the source for the System Copy processes, normally the production SAP system, but could also be any other non-production system.
• Target system: The physical host that hosts the copy of the source system. The SAP instance is copied here when you run a copy job.
• SAP instance: For the purposes of System Copy, a physical or virtual host that is the source of the SAP system.

• HP StorageWorks XP Business Copy software is required when using HP System Copy Software for SAP on your HP XP Disk Array. HP System Copy automates this copy process.
