HP Enhanced Scripts for Linux (SSSTK)

As businesses are faced with the need to deploy hundreds of servers in a quick and reliable fashion, HP offers the SmartStart Scripting Toolkit. The SmartStart Scripting Toolkit addresses the customer's need for virtual presence in the IT environment specifically in the area of server deployment.

The Scripting Toolkit includes a modular set of utilities and important documentation that describe how to apply these new tools to build an automated server deployment process. The Scripting Toolkit supports ProLiant tower, rack, and blade 200, 300, 400, 500, 600 and 700 series servers.

The Scripting Toolkit radically simplifies high volume server deployment by delivering a hands-off, unattended installation and configuration solution. Using SmartStart technology, the Scripting Toolkit provides a flexible way to create standard server configuration scripts. These scripts are used to automate many of the manual steps in the server configuration process. This automated process cuts time from each server deployment, making it possible to scale servers to high volumes in rapid fashion.

Leveraging the SmartStart Scripting Toolkit, HP has developed a core set of enhanced scripts for Linux. These scripts support x86 and x64 architecture on Red Hat Enterprise Linux, SUSE Linux Enterprise, and Debian Linux server operating systems. These scripts serve as a guideline for you to customize and control server specific settings such as firmware updates (System ROM settings, iLO/iLO2 configuration, RAID settings with Smart Array Controller) and OS automated installation settings (kickstart, autoyast, etc.).
