The Linux distributions and versions represented on this matrix indicate support for the product from the vendor.
RH EL 3* = Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3.
HP highly recommends to our customers that are installing Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3 on ProLiant servers to also install Update 1 (2.4.21-9.EL kernel) or greater. View more details on HP.com and the Red Hat web site.

In order to facilitate customers migrating from RHEL x86 (32bit) platforms to the newer AMD64(R) and Intel EM64T(R) 64 bit platforms, Red Hat supports running x86 RHEL3 Update2 (32bit OS) and subsequent updates and erratas on these 64 bit platforms, subject to the individual boxes being certified on both 32 bit and the appropriate 64 bit platforms.

This policy statement does not change the scope of Red Hat’s end-of-life policy with respect to any release or update nor does it imply full compatibility of application binaries compiled for a 32 bit environment but running on a 64 bit OS. This library compatibility issue is being worked as a separate issue and will be addressed in a separate statement.

"HP supported" indicates that an operating system has been successfully tested on the server and drivers may be available.

To ensure the highest level of customer satisfaction HP has established collaborative support relationships with Linux distributors whenever possible. In situations where a customer is using an open source version of Linux not obtained directly from HP or a version that is no longer supported by the Linux manufacturer, HP cannot guarantee support or resolution for all issues or problems – support will be provided on a commercially reasonable effort. HP will continue to support Red Hat Profession Versions until December 2005. View more information on HP and Red Hat Professional.
