Overview
Compaq Insight Manager is the world's most widely used Server Management tool. With Compaq Insight Manger you get control of your servers and better utilization of your resources. This scalable tool provides extensive fault, configuration, and performance management.

Compaq Insight Manager 4.50 continues the Compaq tradition of delivering industry-leading management information via industry standard web browsers from anywhere on the Intranet.

Compaq Insight Manager features a graphical interface that includes extensive on-line documentation and context-sensitive help. This management software is comprised of two components:

• Compaq Insight Manager application which runs on the management console
• Compaq Management Agents for Servers and Compaq Management Agents for Clients, the operating system-specific agents which run on the managed system.

NetWare Operating System Management
Compaq takes another step towards integrating OS management into its management offerings by adding OS management for NetWare environments to its superior hardware availability management. Users will now be able to get an integrated hardware and software view of their NetWare environments via the web-enabled Compaq Management Agents.

Customers running NetWare 5.0 and 4.x (with the NetWare Management Agent installed) will now be able to see information on:

• The NetWare Operating System
• File System of the server being monitored
• Server parameters
• User, Connection, NLM,
• Partition and Adapter information.

Users can now monitor both their hardware and operating system from one application - the NetWare OS information is added to the hardware information displayed by the web enabled agents. However, some information like the NetWare SET parameters is accessible only when logged in as administrator to the web-enabled agent, ensuring access to such information only to the administrator.

For NetWare 5.0 environments, Compaq provides this capability by using information resident in NetWare 5.0 and for NetWare 4.20 environments, this capability is provided by gathering information from the NetWare Management Agent if it is installed on the systems. The OS information within the Compaq Management Agents enhances the quality and detail of information reported by the agents, enabling users to better manage their environments.
