With Compaq Insight Manager you can effectively manage your servers and better utilize your IT resources, Compaq Insight Manager provides comprehensive system management for Compaq servers, workstations, and clients. It proactively monitors and manages system resources by providing IT managers with time critical management information. It provides extensive fault, configuration, and performance management. Users can focus on their core competence while Compaq Insight Manager seamlessly manages their platforms. World wide, over 1 million servers are managed with Compaq Insight Manager and Compaq Management Agents. The Compaq Insight Manager application runs on a Compaq server, and acts as the management console. It seamlessly interfaces with Compaq Management Agents to ensure that Compaq servers are the best managed servers in the industry.
 Support for Microsoft Windows 2000 Advanced Server Compaq Insight Manager has been enhanced to support Microsoft Windows 2000 Advanced Server. This enhancement reinforces Compaq's dedication to supporting Industry leading applications. Microsoft Windows 2000 Advanced Server users should set their application to use WinSNMP instead of the Management API
Enhanced installation of Compaq Management Agents for SCO OpenServer 5 Version 4.90 enhances the installation of Compaq Management Agents for SCO OpenServer 5. After configuring the information during the SmartStart installation process, the Agents are copied to the system partition from the Management CD. Unlike the previous versions, this improvement with prompt for the Management CD only once.
Web enabled SCO OpenServer 5 agents
Compaq Management Agents for SCO OpenServer 5 are now web-enabled. Users can directly browse to a system running the SCO OpenServer 5 operating system from anywhere, using a standard browser.
Windows Agents Installer updates
Scripting capabilities have been added to the Windows Agent Installer to allow starting and stopping services with a single command, instead of starting and stopping each service individually.
Change in defaults in Compaq Management Agents - Windows Installer
Beginning with the 4.70 release of SmartStart, the installer for the Compaq Management Agents will install only the Compaq Foundation Agents, Compaq Server Agents, Compaq Storage Agents, Compaq NIC Agents and the Compaq Web Agent by default. The other components of the agents - Compaq OS Management for Windows, Compaq WMI agent, and Compaq Agent Event Notifier are now optional items in the installer requiring user selection for installation. During an upgrade from an earlier version of the agents, the installer will check for components that are already installed, and upgrade the components already installed.

- Compaq Insight Manager console application and Compaq Management Agents are distributed as part of the Compaq Server Setup and Management package included with every Compaq server, and via a SmartStart subscription.
