Compaq Insight Manager 7 represents the convergence between Compaq Insight Manager (Win32) and Compaq Insight Manager XE. The new Compaq Insight Manager 7 home page provides views of managed devices that may be customized on a per user basis as well as one click access to the Compaq Management Agents, Remote Insight Lights-Out Edition board, and the Compaq Version Control Agents. Compaq Insight Manager 7 also provides significant enhancements for system software maintenance, group configuration, security, and remote notification.
While it is anticipated that customers will quickly migrate to Compaq Insight Manager 7, Compaq will provide limited hardware enhancements to the Compaq Insight Manager (Win32) console for 6 months following the release of Compaq Insight Manager 7. Compaq will also provide warranty support for Compaq Insight Manager (Win32) through Compaq call centers for 18 months following the Compaq Insight Manager 7 release.
Compaq Insight Manager 7 provides rapid access to detailed fault and performance information gathered by the Compaq Management Agents. Compaq Insight Manager 7 helps maximize system uptime and performance and reduces the cost of maintaining the IT infrastructure by providing proactive notification of problems before those problems result in costly downtime. Compaq Insight Manager also introduces powerful new functionality for system software maintenance and configuration of management parameters across groups of managed devices. Compaq Insight Manager
- Enhanced Integrated Management Log
The Integrated Management Log (IML) status has been refined to better
reflect the overall status of the server. The events that can now change
the overall status of a server, as seen in Compaq Insight Manager and
Compaq Web Based Management, are Memory errors, Accelerator errors,
CPU errors, Host bus errors, EISA bus errors, PCI bus errors, Expansion
slot events, Power subsystem events, Automatic server recovery events,
Operating system events, and Unrecoverable system errors. This change
was made to eliminate redundancies in status reporting
- Compaq Management Agents for
Linux
Compaq Management Agents for Linux provide the instrumentation that enables fault, performance, and configuration management. The current version of Compaq Management Agents for Linux supports Red Hat and SuSE . Compaq Management Agents for Linux are available on the Compaq Management CD and can also be downloaded from: http://www.compaq.com/support/files/server/us/
Compaq Insight Manager 5.0
- Unit Identification System
(UID)
With Compaq Management Agents 5.00,
the server's UID status can be viewed and activated/deactivated through
Compaq Insight Manager and the Web Agents. The UID switch illuminates
a blue LED on both the front and rear of the server when activated,
assisting with quick server identification in highly populated racks.
NOTE: You must have the latest ROMPaq for the Compaq ProLiant DL360
or Compaq ProLiant DL320 installed for full functionality.
- Identify Drive
Added Identify Drive capability where
the LEDs on physical drives attached to a Drive Array or Fibre Channel
controller can be blinked for a specified length of time.
