It can also define workflows that should be run as this template is being provisioned into a running infrastructure. Infrastructure templates can range from single virtual machines to all the infrastructure required to run a multi-tier application. Workflows enable IT to define, build and enforce standard processes for executing tasks and changes, automating the individual tasks or steps that can be automated, and coordinating the hand-offs across the various systems and teams that are involved at specific points in the overall process. |
