Q1. What servers and operating systems are supported by the PSPs?
A1. PSPs and their deployment utilities are supported on ProLiant ML/DL 300, 500, 700 and BL servers. PSPs are available for Microsoft Windows 2000, Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2003 for x86 Systems, Novell NetWare, RedHat, SUSE and United Linux.
Q2. Where can I get the PSPs and how can I install them?
A2. The PSPs are available from the following places: The PSPs are automatically installed with every SmartStart assisted installation. Installing the PSPs can be done through the remote deployment utilities. Each individual component is a self-extracting executable that can also be installed independent of the deployment utilities.

Q3. What is the Remote Deployment Utility (RDU) and Linux Deployment Uility (LDU)?
A3. The Remote Deployment Utility (RDU) for Windows and Linux Deployment Utility (LDU) are applications that deploy driver and management agent updates out to servers on a network. The deployment utilities can be operated from an IT administrator's workstation, running Windows or Linux, to target remote servers for software updates.
Q4. What level of security is used?
A4. The RDU uses Operating System level security. The user of the RDU must have administrator level privileges to deploy a software update to a remote server. 'Root' access is required for the Deployment Utility for Linux. If you do not have administrator level privileges or 'root' access, the installation will not be allowed to proceed.
Q5. Can I script the installation of PSPs?
A5. Yes. The RDU and LDU include a command line version of the utility that can be scripted for silent installation on a target server. This can be used in an automated server deployment process when the latest drivers and management agents are applied to the new server system. The command line version of the RDU/LDU can also be used to update operational servers in group fashion. New PSP updates can be deployed to a group of servers using scripts for batch deployments.
Q6. How do I know if a PSP install was successful?
A6. When using the RDU/LDU in graphical mode, the user interface will indicate the successful installation through icons in the interface. In addition to the graphical user interface, the log file will record the results of all software installations on the target server.
