SunTrust (c-Class)
"The banking industry demands we maintain our costs yet still be competitive in our services," said Tim Meyers, Group VP of ETI, SunTrust . "The implementation of the HP BladeSystem infrastructure has allowed us to capture value by being smarter in how we manage the infrastructure within our datacenter. By rolling out new applications quickly and expertly with the HP Unified Infrastructure Management tools, we've met the challenge of keeping our datacenter up-to-date while finding more ways to deliver on the promise of serving our customers 24x7. With the powerful c-Class architecture, we're expecting considerable administrative time savings, cost reductions and, most importantly, an additional edge in our market."
- Tim Meyers, Group VP of ETI
Apollo Group (c-class)
The best key benefit in the c-Class is the Onboard Administrator. It allows connectivity to the entire enclosure giving a true Central Managing single-pane of glass for all blades housed. OA gathers and compiles needed resource information without having to dive into each blades iLO and document or compile separate information. Temperature, Power, and all Networking utilization are summarized with easy access. This allows better communication regarding critical monitored resources.
- Kathy J. Claypatch, Director, IT Hosting Operations
The enhancements which we were looking for in the new c-Class series have been added. This includes expandability in I/O, Centralized Cooling & Power, and Thermo logic Power settings. (N+ N & N + 1, and the ability to oversubscribe power and set power settings or limits to only allow specific Wattage to be allocated to a blade). The consolidation of the blades allows better footprint utilization in the enclosure. Our "standard" use was 8 blades x 4 Enclosures (7 "U" each) = 32 standard nodes in the P-class. Now we will move to 16 blades x 3 enclosures (10 "U" each) = 48 standard nodes. That's an increase of 16 nodes (with only adding 2 "U" utilization to the rack) without needing to add additional power or cooling to the rack.
- Mark B. Donahoo, Sr. Infrastructure Support Manager
Wyeth (c-Class)
HP's p-Class blades have been our x86/x64 platform of choice for the past two years. Our aggressive use of this technology has allowed us to double our server inventory without an increase in staff and with a reduction in our use of data center resources.
We are currently evaluating HP's c-Class blades and are very excited about their potential. The introduction of HP Thermal Logic, HP Virtual Connect, and the universal use of hot-pluggable hard drives represent a dramatic step forward in HP's blade offering. If testing continues as anticipated, HP's c-Class blades are likely to become our primary platform going forward.
- Brett Aukburg, Associate Director, Microsoft Server Application Integration
Cerner (c-Class)
"Cerner faced many of the same data center challenges day-to-day as other companies. We were running out of floor space but increasing our demand for compute capabilities at the same time. Once we realized the bottom line benefits of the new HP BladeSystem c-Class infrastructure compared to the costs of simply buying more and more rack-mount servers, it became clear what the future direction would be. We anticipate the cost saving of the blade-based infrastructure to help us improve the business results while allowing us to manage growth more effectively."
- Tony Linville, Sr. Manager, Infrastructure Services
OpSource Inc (c-Class)
"The HP c-Class BladeSystem would give us much more flexibility and allow us to change course whenever the business commands it, in real time." The server blade LAN and SAN connections are virtualized. Adding, subtracting or upgrading servers would be a snap, especially since we could make these changes "on the fly" without having to tie up our LAN or SAN administrators."
- Mitchell Cipriano, Vice President, Marketing
Aegis (p-Class)
"The HP BladeSystem c-Class would help me manage our IT resources much more efficiently." The Onboard Administrator, the built-in management controller, would simplify operations and allow one person to manage all the components of the system, servers, storage, everything. What's more, we'll be able to add blade modules along the way without having to add staff to manage them. Our manpower could be redistributed to additional, more innovative projects.
- Art Beane, Enterprise Architect
"The HP BladeSystem c-Class infrastructure, with its modular design, has actually inspired us to rethink our entire approach to IT." In the past, we've only used blades as additional servers in our centralized data centers. Since the consolidated design of the HP BladeSystem c-Class is so much more efficient to own and maintain than the rack-mount approach, we're now considering ways to expand the traditional 'IT footprint' out into our branch offices, leveraging BladeSystem storage and network capabilities. Remote management and administration functionality now make this concept possible. The redundancy and manageability features of the entire infrastructure are just too attractive to ignore, and the significant reduction in TCO enhances our IT group's value to the business units.
- Art Beane, Enterprise Architect
"The new BladeSystem c-Class system coupled with HP's forthcoming storage blades promise to be our first opportunity to expand the benefits of 'blading everything' from out of the data center only and into branch offices."
- Art Beane, Enterprise Architect
Beverly Enterprise (p-Class)
"We successfully centralized and consolidated our enterprise on HP BladeSystem p-Class infrastructure over three years ago. We are looking forward to the HP BladeSystem c-Class because it will continue to allow us to consolidate and lower our total of cost of ownership yet provide more computing power while supporting the business with a smaller data center footprint."
- Don Griffin, Director, Infrastructure Research and Development
AES (p-Class)
"The HP p-Class blades have provided AES with a scalable commodity system platform with unparalleled performance and a price point to meet our most remote business unit's cost structure. Our business leaders have seen direct operational and financial benefit from the BP45ps that are running our SAP system. In addition, we have seen increased availability from our ability to deploy several distinct hardware environments in support of our production systems at a low price point."
- George Coulter, VP, CIO
