Q1. Where can I find detailed information on the BL460c specifications and supported options?
A1. The BL460c QuickSpecs include descriptions of all models of the ProLiant BL460c and an extensive list of supported options from HP.
Q2. What is the difference between the HP ProLiant BL460c Blade Server and the HP ProLiant BL20p G4?
A2. The differences between the ProLiant BL460c and the new B20P G4 are:
  • Density - The BL460c is a half-height blade versus a full-height blade and offers all the same feature sets plus more. The BL460c takes up one-half of a slot within the new c-7000 enclosure. The BL20p G4 continues to take up 1 full slot within the p-class enclosure.
  • Design of Blade - The BL460c does not include fans. The fans have been removed to provide space for other components within the blade. Also, to ensure maximum cooling optimization, the fans reside within the c-Class 7000 enclosure.
  • Enclosure - The BL460c blade is compatible and to be used only with the new c-7000 blade enclosure. The new c-class blades are not compatible with the p-class blade enclosure.
Q3. What options are available for the ProLiant BL460c blade server?
A3. The BL460c includes optional support for:
  • Additional memory
  • Quad-core or dual-core processors
  • SAS or SATA hard disk drives
  • Two mezzanine cards - for additional NICs or external storage connection
  • Battery Backed-Write Cache
  • Drive-Less model

A4. Operating system support includes:
  • Microsoft Windows 2000

Q1. What type of ProLiant Management ships standard with the BL460c?
A1. iLO 2 Standard Blade Edition ships standard with every c-class blade server. It is an enhanced, essential remote management software for the next generation ProLiant BL servers.
Q2. What functionality is included in iLO-2 Standard Blade Edition?
A2. iLO-2 Standard Blade Edition includes HP Virtual KVM, Integrated Remote Console, Terminal Services Pass-through, Virtual Media (browser single server), Blade specific features - setup wizard, rackview, enclosure alerting, static IP bay configuration, Embedded System Health, Remote Serial Console, Virtual power, Unit ID, Event logs, SIM integration. Q3. Is there additional blade specific Management Software?
A3. Yes, there is additional blade specific management software available. Introducing, the iLO 2 Select Pack. It offers optional licensed Lights-Out upgrades for ProLiant BL servers, activates security, new power management, scripted virtual media, future and Flexible licensing, including site licenses and an eight blade kit.

The iLO Select Pack includes:
  • Power Regulator Reporting
  • Virtual Media (scripted multi-server)
  • Enterprise security, Directory services, Two-factor Authentication

Service and warranty
Q1. What is the warranty on this product?
A1. Industry Standard Servers are supported with a Worldwide Limited warranty featuring 3 years of parts, labor, and on-site service. In addition processors, memory, and hard drives are also covered by HP's prefailure warranty. Click for a complete description of your warranty.

A2. HP recommends customers purchase for deployment, HP Bladesystem Infrastructure Installation and Start Up and same day 24x7 hardware support combined with software technical support for opertaing system and management software.
