TheHP256 MB Battery Backed Write Cache (BBWC) Upgrade Module increases cache size of controllers for more high performance cache availability.

  • Customers require battery backed write cache to protect data from power outages and hardware failures
  • Customers require removable and transportable caches on the controllers

Typical Use

User installed Smart Array 5300 Series Controllers where high performance cache is required.

Solving the Customers Problem

  • Allowing customers to upgrade the controller caches to 256 MB on the Smart Array 5300 Series controllers and to 512 MB on the MSA500 Controller and the MSA1000 Controller.
  • HP offers Ni-MH (Nickel Metal Hydride) batteries that allow up to 3 days of protection.
  • The 256 MB cache module is removable and transportable to other Smart Array 5300 series controllers.

The MSA500 and the MSA1000 support the following cache configurations:
  • 1 × 128MB
  • 2 × 128MB
  • 1 × 256MB
  • 2 × 256MB
