Answers

Q1. What is new and different about the R5500 UPS, compared to the other HP UPSs?
A1. With only a 3U form factor, the R5500 provides more power protection per U (1500 watts) than any other UPS offered by HP. This allows you the most power back up, as well as leaving you with more rack space for your servers, storage and networking equipment.Attached line cords make this UPS much more versatile than the R6000 - allowing you to more quickly install and get the UPS up and running, as well as attach external storage systems like the EVA to the UPS.
Q2. How many models of the R5500 are there?
A2. There are two UPS models:
  1. NA/Japan (200-208 Vac)     326529-D71
  2. International (220-240 Vac)     326529-B31
Q3. What type of input connections does the R5500 have?
A3. The NA/Japan model has (1) L6-30P, 3m cord
The International model has (1) IEC-309, 3m cord
Q4. How many load segments does the R5500 have?
A4. The R5500 has two load segments.
Q5. What type of output connections does the R5500 have?
A5. Load segment 1 (15 Amp circuit breakers) has: (2) x C19 + (2) x C13 receptacles
Load segment 2 (15 Amp circuit breakers) has: (2) x C19 + (2) x C13 receptacles
Plus one pigtailed receptacle, associated with load segment 1, consisting of:
  • (1) L6-30R for the NA/Japan model, or
  • (1) IEC-309 for the International model
Q6. How many ERM's does the R5500 support?
A6. You may add one or two ERM's to the R5500. The ERM part number is 326564-B21 (one part number worldwide).
Q7. How do I manage the R5500 UPS?
A7. HP provides FREE management software for all our UPSs. Rack and Power Manager software is downloadable from the web at: http://h18004.www1.hp.com/products/servers/proliantstorage/power-protection/index.html. From this page, click on the software link at the bottom of the page.
Q8. Can I convert the R5500 to a tower form factor?
A8. Yes, you can use the R5500 UPS in either a rack mounted position or as a stand alone tower by purchasing the R5500 Tower Conversion kit (part number AF442A). The kit contains a battery tray, a new bezel, a stand with four supporting feet and hardware to mount the bezel.
Q9. Will the R5500 conversion kit expand to include the R5500 UPS and the R5500 ERM?
A9. No, the Tower conversion kit will only fit the R5500 UPS without the ERM.
