Single console management

With the introduction of the Serial Interface Adapter the HP Server Console switch provides single console management for your entire infrastructure. Servers and network devices, such as routers and switches, can be managed from the same console using KVM or serial access.

Simplified KVM cable managment

Simplified KVM cable management and network configuration that easily expands as your data center grows.

The HP Server Console Switch uses unshielded CAT5 cabling between the servers and the switch. The cables can be purchased ready-made or field terminated to create custom lengths. CAT5 cabling provides several benefits-- the smaller, more flexible form factor facilitates routing through the rack and customizable lengths eliminate coils of cabling in the rear of the rack.

The Interface Adapter (IA) that connects from the CAT5 cable to the server KVM ports also provides keep-alive and naming functionality. Keep-alive means that even if the CAT5 cable is disconnected from the switch the IA will still respond as if the keyboard, mouse and video were present, allowing a server reboot to occur without errors. Storing the name in the IA ensures that even if the cables are connected to different ports on the switch or even a different switch the name will follow the server makes changes to KVM network configuration simple.

Scalable KVM solution

Increased efficiency, space utilization and improved KVM cable management throughout your heterogeneous data center

The HP Server Console Switch has two models the 0×1×8 and the 0×2×16, using the optional 8-Port CAT5 KVM Expansion Module the 0×1×8 and 0×2×16 can scale up to 64 and 128 KVM ports, respectively.

Tiering or cascading support allows multiple KVM switches to be connected together allowing up to 256 servers to be managed from a single KVM switch

Seamless integration

The HP Server Console switch provides seamless integration with existing Compaq KVM Switches, iLO, RiLOE and RiLOE II to protect the investments already made while further simplifying day-to-day management of server environments.

Support for common on-screen console menus that incorporate stand alone and tiered switch connections provides users with a single, intelligent list of server connections. So not matter how the server is connected the administrator can easily and simply go straight to the server that needs attention.

Integration with the HP IP Console Switch ensures that as your KVM solution grows to require remote management via KVM/IP it can be easily connected in with the minimum of reconfiguration. Existing components, such as the Interface Adapter, can be used directly with the HP IP Console Switch and the HP Server Console Switch can be tiered from the HP IP Console switch.

Remote management via iLO, RiLOE and RiLOE II is also supported to ensure that no matter what your remote management strategy, the HP KVM solution will work smoothly and easily.
