Overview

The AntemetA Multipathing Software Solution for AIX is fully integrated with the AIX kernel and uses a native disk device driver and MPIO (Multi Pathing IO) framework to enhance data availability through automatic path failover protection. By using an adapter-disk bridge device this architecture solution guaranties total transparency to the SCSI processing path, thus it is fully compliant with the AIX server hardware (i.e. original HBA) and software (i.e. administration tools) environment.

The AntemetA Multipathing Software Solution for AIX takes full advantage of all HP StorageWorks Enterprise Virtual Array (EVA) family capabilities to effectively and efficiently manage a mixed storage area network (SAN) environment. It optimizes total cost of ownership by working with HP EVA features such as; SAN boot, volume group, dynamic LUN extension and SNAP clone, by drastically reducing maintenance down-time and servers add-ons. Moreover, it provides full compatibility with LPAR (Logical Partitioning) and non LPAR servers, with HACMP (High Availability Cluster Multiprocessing, the IBM clustering environment), including the latest micro-partitioning and virtual I/O features.

Features & benefits

  • High availability: Path failover capability and redundant components eliminate single point-of-failure from server to Enterprise Virtual Array (EVA) storage subsystem.
  • Supports the entire EVA family: Supports both the EVA3000/5000 and EVA4000/6000/8000 on same pair of HBAs. Allows transparent integration or data migration of EVA4000/6000/8000 in the SAN.
  • Performance optimization: Enhanced SCSI protocol handling to manage extended queue depth significantly increases performance.
  • SAN Boot capability: Allows IBM® AIX boot from the EVA (only available using 6228 and 6239 HBA). SAN boot feature reduces hardware components in AIX servers and enables quick replacement of failing server and the ability to quickly install multiple server with cloning.
  • Cost Efficient Manageability: Storage management with CommandView EVA. AIX management with SMIT & WebSM Enhanced GUI to manage both system and storage resources. No additional knowledge is required for administrators. Ease of administration through dedicated GUI.
  • Event Notification: Standard IBM AIX tools are used, this speeds up administrative integration tasks.
  • Dynamic LUN extension: Allows online dynamic data volume extension (no application downtime).
  • Storage Consolidation: Two or more hosts can share the same storage providing maximum utilization of resources.
  • Investment protection: Allows heterogeneous hosts to be connected to the same SAN.
