Overview

You have better things to do than worry about file storage. You’re juggling multiple interfaces, security concerns, and shrinking backup windows - all while your users demand more storage space. You need affordable file storage that you can fit in a small space, and you need it soon.

An ML110 G5 Storage Server is the fast and easy way to add tower-based networked file storage to your small or remote IT environment. The Microsoft Windows-powered operating system is pre-installed and HP All-in-One Storage Manager is included (except 320 GB SATA model), so you'll be up and running in minutes. It's a network attached storage (NAS) solution with multi-protocol support, so you can consolidate files or create a disk-based backup target. A single, centralized file/print device helps you spend less time and effort on maintenance and management, and industry-standard building blocks protect your investment by providing compatibility with your network, applications, and additional data services

What's new

  • Create, migrate, manage, and protect shared storage without the need for storage expertise using HP All-in-One Storage Manager (ASM) Software, which is now included with most ML110 G5 Storage Servers

Features and Benefits

Ready to deploy and fast to install
  • Be up and serving files in minutes, not hours: The operating system is pre-installed and user storage is pre-configured, so it's a quick, secure, and easy way to add file storage to your network.
  • A single, centralized file server: Consolidate islands of direct-attached storage to one platform or create a scalable disk-based backup or replication target.
  • HP All-in-One Storage Manager (ASM) included: Create, migrate, manage, and protect file shares (NAS) and application storage (iSCSI Target) without the need for storage expertise; it’s like having a storage expert in the box (Note: the 320 GB SATA model does not include HP ASM).
  • Multiple configurations to fit your needs: The 320 GB SATA model sets a new standard for Storage Server affordability, and support for both SATA and SAS hard drives helps you choose a balance of capacity, performance, and reliability.
Windows-powered Network Attached Storage (NAS)
  • Multi-protocol file serving: Install in wide range of heterogeneous file serving environments with support for SMB/CIFS, NFS, HTTP, FTP, WebDAV, AppleTalk, and NetWare protocols.
  • Spend less time and effort managing files: A consolidated and networked solution means you have one thing to manage, scale, and protect.
  • Familiar management look and feel: If you've used Microsoft Management Console (MMC) to manage a Windows server, you're probably already familiar with how to manage a ProLiant Storage Server.
  • All-in-One Storage Manager wizards: No special training is required to make an IT generalist look like a storage expert. Automated ‘best practice’ logic enables optimal storage setup without needing to know industry-established best practices (Note: the 320 GB SATA model does not include HP ASM).
Industry-standard hardware and software
  • HP ProLiant server hardware: Relax - your investment is protected because you're not locked into a proprietary platform. And you can easily add Lights-out 100 functionality that lets you manage and troubleshoot remotely.
  • Seamless integration into your environment: It's running Windows, so it integrates natively into your Active Directory and DFS environments, and runs your favorite antivirus, backup, and storage management applications.
  • Micro-ATX tower package: The small tower platform can fit on a desk or in a closet, and supports up to four SATA or SAS 3.5 inch internal hard drives.
  • Print server support: Don't forget that an ML110 G5 Storage Server is a Windows print server too, offering consolidation benefits to your Windows print environment.
Intelligent storage services
  • Optional data services that integrate with HP ASM: Upgrade to host block-based storage for applications with Microsoft® iSCSI Software Target (except 320GB SATA model); backup to disk, tape, or other removable media with Data Protector Express Software; and replicate data on a scheduled basis to another system using HP Storage Mirroring Software.
  • Optimized for file serving: Up to 20% faster file serving performance than a Windows Server 2003 R2 installation.
  • Get more space using file de-duplication: Single Instance Storage (SIS) recovers up to 35% of disk space by reducing the amount of redundant data (not supported on 320 GB SATA model).
  • Storage-specific tools and features included: Reap the benefits of optimized Indexed Search, SharePoint® Services support, Quotas, File Screening, Storage Reporting, Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS) snapshots, and Distributed File System (DFS) Replication - all at no extra charge.
