Highly Available Server Hardware
Because HP ProLiant Clusters are built from industry-standard components, HP delivers high levels of application availability at a much lower cost than traditional, proprietary cluster solutions. The ProLiant Cluster F200 for the Entry-Level SAN uses HP industry-leading ProLiant servers, the fast and reliable HP StorageWorks Modular Smart Array 1000 (MSA1000), StorageWorks Modular Smart Array 1500 (MSA1500 cs), or StorageWorks RAID Array 4000/4100 (RA4000/4100), and Ethernet cluster node interconnect options. The F200's dual-path configuration provides another level of availability above single-path clusters.
- ProLiant High-End or High Density Servers ProLiant DL360, ProLiant DL380, ProLiant DL580, ProLiant DL585 and ProLiant BL20p.
- StorageWorks Modular Smart Array (MSA1000 or MSA1500 cs) v 4.26
- Raid Array 4100 Storage Subsystem (RA4100)
- Optical Fibre Channel Interconnects
- Storage works Secure Path for Windows Workgroup Edition V 3.1c (RA4100 only)
- Storage works Secure Path for Windows Workgroup Edition V 4.0C SP1 (MSA1000 or MSA1500 cs only)
- Microsoft Windows Server 2003, Enterprise Edition for 2 to 8-nodes,
(purchased separately - 8-node support for F200 MSA1000 or MSA1500 cs Cluster only)
- Microsoft Windows 2000 Advanced Server for 2-node clusters (purchased separately)
- Five MSA1000 or MSA1500 cs's per cluster
- Up to five 2-node clusters sharing a single MSA1000 or MSA1500 cs
- Maximum of 20 total nodes in x unique clusters not to exceed 5 if using 2-node clusters

The ProLiant Cluster F200 for the Entry-Level SAN configurations utilize HP SmartStart, HP Insight Manager, Cluster Monitor, SANWorks SecurePath, and MSCS software to enable rapid installation, configuration monitoring and management, as well as deployment of clustered environments throughout the enterprise. HP SmartStart and HP Insight Manager are now "cluster enabled," allowing easy installation and sophisticated cluster and systems management, either locally or from remote locations.
Support for the Multipath Input/Output (MPIO) solution for Microsoft® Windows Server™ 2003 gives the customer added flexibility. The Multipath Input/Output (MPIO) Driver Development Kit (DDK) allows storage vendors to create interoperable multipathing solutions that work with Windows Server 2003. Multipathing increases availability by providing multiple paths from the host to the external storage device.
In addition to the SCSI Port driver, Microsoft® Windows Server™ 2003 and later versions provide Storport (storport.sys), a storage port driver that is especially suitable for use with high-performance buses, such as fibre channel buses, and RAID adapters. |

All HP ProLiant Clusters integrate hardware, software, and services to provide a total solution for business-critical environments. HP ProLiant Servers, interconnect options, system management software, flexibility in configuration support, and implementation documentation have all been thoroughly tested in cluster configurations. HP's close relationship with application partners has resulted in the development of cluster application TechNotes, which assist in the rapid deployment of major business applications on HP ProLiant Clusters.
Both existing and new HP ProLiant servers are certified for The ProLiant Cluster F200 for the Entry-Level SAN. This means that customers can build clusters using existing servers or by mixing old and new servers. Customers who purchased the F100 cluster from HP can easily migrate within the same operating system environment to this Redundant-path F200 solution simply by purchasing the new ProLiant Cluster F200 for the Entry-Level SAN kit and the additional hardware, hubs or switches, and cables to add the second path to that configuration.
The newest integrated solution the will be supported by the ProLiant Cluster F200 for the Entry-Level SAN kit is the HP StorageWorks MSA1000 Small Business SAN Kit. The MSA1000 Small Business SAN Kit ships with two new FCA200 Fibre Channel Host Bus Adapters and a new 2/8Q Fibre Channel External Switch for lower cost of entry into a Storage Area Network environment. MSA1000 Small Business HA upgrade Kit is for those customers who need high availability support with redundancy and failover capabilities. |
