Plug into unified infrastructure management with Storage Essentials

Storage management and SMI-S providers

HP SIM uses the Storage Management Initiative Specification (SMI-S) standard to discover and manage the storage systems it supports. You must have a storage system's SMI-S provider installed and configured in order for HP SIM to discover it. The storage systems supported by HP SIM include Fibre Channel disk arrays, tape libraries, switches, and hosts (with Fibre Channel Host Bus Adapters installed). For more information, see the Introduction to SMI-S for HP Systems Insight Manager.

HP SIM 5.0 supports SMI-S compliant CIMOMs and providers that have passed the Storage Networking Industry Association Conformance Test Program (SNIA-CTP). This includes devices listed in the table below as well as others that are not listed. Note that SMI-S profiles implemented by providers passing the SNIA-CTP will vary from provider to provider. As a result, not all of the features that HP SIM supports are available for all the providers that have passed the SNIA-CTP. There is more information available on other companies who have passed the SNIA CTP certification and have SMI-S providers available.

Click a checkmark in the HP SIM or HP SE column for detailed information and configuration instructions. For devices not listed, please contact the device manufacturer to obtain the required software.
