overview
HP Ultrium, Super DLT, DLTtape IV and AIT Bar Code Label Packs provide an easy-to-use solution to the aggravation of bar coding.

Under constant pressure to deliver quality of service with limited resources, the last thing IT managers should be worrying about is why their in-house bar code labels aren't working properly or whose turn it is to operate (or run) the departmental label printer.

Each HP label pack of consecutively numbered bar codes contains 100 data labels and 10 cleaning cartridge labels. No two pack sequences are ever identical to avoid data integrity issues in archives. HP Bar Code Label Packs will be available from most resellers that stock HP brand media.

Finally, HP Bar Code Label Packs have been fully tested to guarantee performance in demanding automation environments, so unlike cheaper alternatives, users can be certain that their backups will never be disrupted by bar code quality issues.

features

faq
With which library products are HP Bar Code Label Packs compatible?
HP Bar Code Labels are compatible with all ESL and MSL tape libraries and autoloaders, as well as all Surestore and Surestore E tape libraries and autoloaders. HP labels will also work in most other manufacturers' automation devices.

Why are there data labels and cleaning labels?
Because data cartridge and cleaning cartridge label formats are different, this is to ensure that cleaning tapes are not selected for backup by accident or that data tapes are not used for cleaning. Never put a data cartridge label on a cleaning tape or vice versa. All cleaning labels begin with the sequence CLN.

Are HP Bar Code Labels Code 3-of-9 format?
Yes.

Can I use an Ultrium label in a DLT cartridge or vice versa?
No. Never apply a label from a different media type, such as DLT, to LTO cartridges. Not only may the bar code be unreadable, but the label may become jammed in the drive or library robotics. Additionally, the label may be readable but can cause the library to misinterpret the type of cartridge and proceed to insert the cartridge into an incompatible drive, possibly damaging the drive and/or tape.

Can I choose my own label sequences for HP Bar Code Label Packs?
No. Label pack customers cannot choose the sequence of labels inside the pack, although no two packs will ever be the same to avoid issues with duplicate bar code IDs. If customers require custom sequences, they can obtain these by purchasing HP pre-labeled media. This service enables customers to choose their own label details and have the labels applied to the cartridges by HP.
