WEBES Cleanup Utilities

The cleanup utilities below were created to help users fully remove old copies of WEBES. In some cases where many versions of WEBES have been installed on a system, the registry and file folders are cluttered with old files and entries. These utilities are provided to cleanup those systems when normal installation or upgrade procedures have had problems. Please read the Users Guide that describes when and how to use the utility.

Since WEBES v4.4.3, the Windows InstallShield kits include all necessary cleanup steps. If you encounter cases where a fresh install or a removal of WEBES for Windows v4.4.3 or later fails to clean up properly, please use the cleanup scripts below.

WEBES 5.1 (HP-UX, Linux, OpenVMS, Windows)

Please note: Starting with the v5.1 release, WEBES now provides Enterprise Support. Enterprise Support allows WEBES users to monitor and analyze events from all managed systems from one central Windows based server, instead of installing the WEBES analysis engine on each monitored system. To configure Enterprise Support, users should install the WEBES v5.1 analysis engine on the central server and the light weight Event Log Monitoring Collector (ELMC) client on each managed system.

Note for WEBES 5.1 OpenVMS users: A problem has been found in the WEBES 5.1 for OpenVMS kit that can cause many CA.A.200 and CA.A.500 processes to be created and not closed. These processes are created by WEBES and WCCProxy to monitor and read events from the system error log file. This problem may result in performance degradataion and has in some cases resulted in all available process slots being assigned to these processes. A patch fix has been developed that consists of manually replacing two WEBES 5.1 Patch 2 JAR files. Please download the WEBES v5.1 Patch 2 Replacement .zip file for the updated WEBES .jar files and installation steps to correct this problem.
