Overview

This course covers the HP Blade Workstation Solution. This second-generation solution leverages the benefits of the first-generation p-Class Blade Workstation Solution while incorporating dual-core Intel Xeon 5100 processors and the HP Blade System C-class infrastructure.

The course provides a technical description and support information for the xw460c Blade Workstation, the Blade Workstation Client, the C-class blade infrastructure, and the accompanying software such as HP Remote Graphics Software (RGS) and HP Session Allocation Manager (SAM). Extensive hands-on labs provide practice using the solution and give students an opportunity to apply the concepts and knowledge presented during class. Course modules include:

  • Blade Workstation Solution Hardware
  • Remote Graphics Software (RGS) Essentials

Objectives

After completing this course, you should be able to:
  • Discuss the features of the HP Blade Workstation Solution
  • List the standard and optional hardware and software components
  • Discuss the value proposition and sales process
  • Install and configure RGS and SAM software for a customer demonstration
  • Set up and configure the HP Blade Workstation Solution hardware for a customer demonstration
  • Set up and configure the HP Blade Workstation Solution software for a customer demonstration

While no formal Blade Workstation experience or knowledge is assumed, students may also benefit from some preparatory study using the following courses:

In addition, before taking this class you should be able to:
  • Demonstrate knowledge of key networking concepts in a Windows server environment to include TCP/IP networking
  • Demonstrate knowledge of key components of Windows 2003 Advanced or Standard Edition Server platform including: Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, domain server, and Group Policy and Group Policy Objects (GPOs)
  • Describe benefits of ProLiant Essentials Foundation Pack components: HP Insight Manager and SmartStart and Rapid Deployment Pack (RDP) based on the Altiris image management product
  • Create, capture, and deploy an image on a Blade PC and a Thin Client using Altiris/Rapid Deployment Pack (RDP)
