Course overview

This course is designed to provide training for HP StorageWorks Continuous Access Enterprise Virtual Array (EVA). The material first covers Continuous Access EVA concepts and the business requirements for Continuous Access EVA, including components such as copy sets, DR groups, and managed sets. It provides instructions on how to configure and manage a Continuous Access EVA configuration using storage management servers with Command View EVA and Replication Solutions Manager software, and details failover processes with both interfaces. Continuous Access EVA extended configurations, use of the replication performance estimator, best practices, troubleshooting techniques complete the course materials.

As the students progress through the course, hands-on laboratories are available. These activities, led by the classroom instructor, are designed to correlate with the lecture materials.

  • Students should be aware of basic host platform usage and be comfortable navigating through system management utilities associated with the specified platforms.

Course objective

  • Differentiate between those Continuous Access EVA tasks performed through Command View EVA and those performed through the Replication Solutions Manager interface
  • Explain the creation and interrelationship of copy sets, DR groups, and managed sets
  • Explain the difference between failsafe and normal modes
  • Identify supported and non-supported storage configurations
  • Describe requirements for Continuous Access EVA extended configurations
  • Describe the Continuous Access EVA functions of failover, suspend, resume, and disable failsafe
  • Explain best practice procedures
  • Describe a general process for troubleshooting a Continuous Access EVA configuration
  • Explain how communication tunnels are created and how they are used by Continuous Access EVA

Cancellation policy

Registration may be canceled without tuition charge if Hewlett-Packard Training Registration receives notification of cancellation eleven business days prior to class. Cancellations made ten to three business days prior to class will incur a $150 cancellation charge ($210 in Canada, plus applicable taxes). Cancellations made two business days prior or less to class date and/or no-shows will incur the full tuition charge.
