Course overview

The 'Planning and Designing ProLiant Servers for the Enterprise' course delivers the technical presales knowledge and skills necessary for preparing students for consulting with customers on HP commercial- and enterprise-class products and solutions. The course is designed for account-aligned technical presales specialists who design and justify HP cross-portfolio solutions to their customers.

This course prepares students for the HP Certified Professional exam (HP0-065) which measures the student's ability to apply a broad knowledge of business requirements, products, concepts, technologies and solutions within a customer sales engagement. The students attending this course will gain knowledge of technical concepts and technologies of HP Industry Standard Server solutions. A series of demonstrations and lab assignments reinforce the learning concepts delivered in this class.

Prerequisites (recommended, but not required)

To ensure students have the required technical background they should complete with passing scores the HP Certified Professional 'Technical Essentials of HP Enterprise Products' online exam and the Accredited Presales Professional Commercial (HP2-051) or Accredited Presales Professional Enterprise (HP0-505) exam.

Upon successful completion of this course, you should be able to:
  • Describe the HP ProLiant DL, BL c-Class and BL p-Class server portfolio, power and cooling infrastructure support, storage options, Enclosure, and network connectivity
  • Describe HP data storage technologies and HP SAN solutions
  • Define and explain industry standards for availability
  • Define and describe the basics of high availability design
  • Explain the planning and setup process for ProLiant servers
  • Describe the different HP ProLiant server deployment tools and how they are used
  • Demonstrate the deployment and installation of ProLiant servers (using SmartStart and RDP)
  • Describe the functionality of iLO, iLO2, LO100 and RILOE II (HP Insight Lights-Out management components) within HP ProLiant servers
  • Describe/plan for HP Systems Insight Manager deployment
  • Describe HP Insight Control Data Center Edition
  • Describe the functionality and plan for the implementation of:
    • Performance Management Pack
    • Virtual Machine Management
    • Server Migration Pack
    • Vulnerability and Patch Management
    • Rapid Deployment Pack Integration
    • BladeSystem Integrated Manager for HP BladeSystem p-class
    • Onboard Administrator for HP BladeSystem c-class
    • HP Control Tower

Cancellation policy

Registration may be canceled without tuition charge if Hewlett-Packard Training Registration receives notification of cancellation eleven business days prior to class. Cancellations made ten to three business days prior to class will incur a $150 cancellation charge. Cancellations made two business days prior or less to class date and/or no-shows will incur the full tuition charge.

All course offerings are dependent on classroom, equipment and instructor availability. Hewlett-Packard reserves the right to cancel or change a class at any time without liability to the attendee for costs incurred due to such cancellations or changes, including, but not limited to, cancellation penalties for transportation or accommodations.
